- Who is SAJE for?
SAJE is for any middle school or high school student who is interested in learning and playing jazz music in small group settings.
- How much experience do I have to have to join?
Students should have at least 6 months experience playing their instrument. You do not need to have played with a jazz band before, but it is recommended.
- What are the days and times of the rehearsal groups?
Each group is assigned a day of the week and time. You will be placed in an appropriate group based on the information you provide us when you fill out your registration form. If you feel like you would rather be placed in a different group, please contact us.
- What do I get for my tuition fee?
You will receive weekly rehearsals with your assigned coach, and you will have the opporuntity to perform, attend workshops and hear guests artists!
- Do I have to pay in full when I register?
No. Filling out the registration form will place you in a rehearsal group. Tuition is due by the first rehearsal. You may pay in full or on a monthly basis.
- Where are the rehearsals located?
We have locations on the North side at Northwood Middle School, West/Central at Holy Names Music Center and on the South Hill at Kelly's Underground.
- But what if I don't know how to do improvisation?
Then this is the place for you! You will learn how to improvise and have the opportunity to create your own solos by working with your coach and your peers.
